How hypnosis can help you reach your ideal future

We might have already tried to do things differently, help ourselves to make positive changes in our lives, but it felt too much effort and created resistance. In other cases it may be that getting out of our comfort zone can feel too overwhelming and we may avoid the situation all together, making the fear grow stronger. This is where hypnotherapy can make a huge difference to your life:

  • Hypnotherapy is all about helping you to create positive, life-enhancing changes in your life. Through hypnosis, you will imagine you are in a particular situation and playing out exactly how you want to think, feel and behave;
  • Confronting a feared or uncomfortable situation in hypnosis can be scary, which is why we will start off with relaxation hypnosis to activate your parasympathetic nervous system to calm the mind and body. Once this is achieved, you will be guided to evoke powerful positive suggestions, followed by rehearsal in the target situation;
  • Following a hypnosis session, when entering that uncomfortable situation in real-life, your body will automatically remember the response evoked during hypnosis and you will find that you can go through that situation with surprising ease, confidence and whilst feeling liberated. Hypnosis harnesses the power of the mind-body connection in creating habitual responses.

How is change possible through hypnosis?

What hypnosis really does is influence our decision-making and makes positive change a lot easier. This is because our decision-making process is dependent upon old habits: all through our lives, events and emotions create an imprint on our brain – this pattern is like a shortcut activated every time we face a similar situation. Through hypnosis, we can consciously override old unhelpful patterns, allowing you to emerge with a new perspective on past experiences and deeply rooted patterns of behaviour.

Using hypnosis, alongside visualisation, will enhance your ability to respond to positive therapeutic imagery and suggestions when entering the situation or event in real life.

What is hypnosis?

  • Hypnosis is essentially a relaxed state of mind, a state of focused attention, in which you are more tuned in;
  • This is usually accompanied with a deep state of relaxation, although this is not essential to experience hypnosis;
  • We can induce hypnosis ourselves during self-hypnosis or by being guided by the hypnotist, or fall into this state naturally by focusing on a task, becoming engrossed in a book, or movie.

Hypnosis is natural & learnable

  • Some clients say that they have never been hypnotised before or assume that they are non hypnotisable; There is no magic to hypnosis. It is not a special unconscious state or sleep state;
  • Hypnosis is a natural state and as such we can also enter this state in our daily lives, for example, it feels like day dreaming, where you’re super focused on your mental imagery, or becoming engrossed in a book, get lost in a good movie, like you’re part of it, and losing track of time and becoming oblivious to outside noise/distractions;
  • Everyone can, in principle, be hypnotised. It has been shown to help if you relax, think positively, and imagine the things being suggested;
  • Rest assured, hypnosis is a learnable skill and can be coached and trained through our sessions with hypnotic skills training.

myths and misconceptions

Is hypnosis mind-control?

There are a lot of preconceptions about what is involved in hypnosis and this can mainly be attributed to stage hypnotists and the depiction of hypnosis on TV. We might have seen a demonstration where a stage hypnotist can seemingly induce funny and embarrassing tasks and behaviours in their subjects. Stage hypnotherapy is vastly different from clinical hypnotherapy, in that the former is to elicit entertainment, highly susceptible subjects are pre-selected from the crowd, there may even be stooges (paid actors) and the subjects would normally feel strong social pressure to perform in the moment.

Essentially, hypnosis is not something that is done to you, it is something that is induced by you. Your belief and imagination are critical in creating positive change and outcome and this is why it is important to be actively engaged during hypnotherapy. Likewise, you must want to accept suggested ideas and actively imagine responding to actually experience their effects. Modern-day hypnotherapy is a collaborative effort, where client and therapist work together. You will need to actively participate during our sessions i.e. allowing yourself to actively engage your imagination, evoke positive emotions and rehearsing behaviour change. Moreover, this may involve in-between session tasks to be completed.

lasting benefits & transformative change

Self-hypnosis for lasting change

You should notice a big transformation after each session and after treatment completion. However, regular self-hypnosis, self-hypnosis prior to an anxiety-provoking event or carried out ad-hoc will be an essential part of managing your anxiety. I am not promising a permanent cure for anxiety as I believe that many factors can affect us, such as how our brain circuitry has been wired from young, different events that come up during life and daily-differences to our moods and emotions; however, having been empowered with the powerful tool of self-hypnosis, you can ensure your gains are maintained and continue to feel confident and liberated in those previously almost debilitating situations.

I really enjoyed the Sessions with Sarah. Even if we only talked with each other online and never met in real life, I still felt always very safe talking to her. She has a very calm voice and I could always talk openly with her. Also during the Sessions there was always a pleasant atmosphere and she never made any pressure. I can just really recommend her, cause I was able to make an improvement with my problems only after 3 Sessions during a few weeks.

My hypnotherapy sessions with Sarah have not only been beneficial but incredibly transformative. I was a little apprehensive at first about what hypnotherapy entailed and what it could provide me with. Having a thorough, rigorous and supportive discover my call with Sarah was incredibly eye-opening and helped me to feel confident in opening boxes I never knew existed, questions I had needed to answer to help Sarah better understand me and for myself also. Her patient, mellow yet professional approach helped me to really open up and discuss what I wanted to work on. The sessions I had were well-structured and there was a calming sense of predictability due to her phenomenal planning and delivery. I was introduced to guided hypnosis as well as self-hypnosis towards the end of our sessions; and this has been an effective tool for me to re-align and re-focus and I have seen a drastic improvement in my outlook on the discussed issue. 10/10, I would definitely recommend this service by Sarah. She is incredibly gracious and understanding and will work collaboratively with you to achieve your goals in feeling mentally and emotionally relieved and uplifted.

From our very first session, Sarah’s calming, patient, and non-judgemental approach made me feel completely safe, comfortable, and at ease. This created the perfect environment for me to open up and fully embrace the hypnotherapy process – something I was initially sceptical about. I was genuinely impressed by the effectiveness of the strategies used during our sessions, as well as the practical, actionable advice she provided. Her guidance has helped me reflect deeply and apply these insights to real life situations with lasting impact. If you’re looking for compassionate and effective support in understanding and overcoming a long-standing challenge, I highly recommend Sarah.

I had my very first hypnotherapy session with Sarah and I’ll be honest, I went in sceptical. I’m very much a grounded, practical person and never really thought hypnotherapy, breathing work or visualisation would be “my thing.” But I decided to give it a try and I’m glad I did. I was quite anxious beforehand, but from the very first discovery call Sarah put me at ease. She has a naturally calm, reassuring presence and creates a safe, completely judgement-free space, which made it easy to open up. What I really liked was how clearly she explained everything. She took the time to talk me through what hypnotherapy actually is and how it works, which helped me trust the process rather than overthink it.

During the session, I felt supported and guided rather than pushed. By the end, I felt lighter and more settled and I also came away with simple, practical tools I can use on my own, which I really appreciated. While even one session was beneficial, I can absolutely see how more sessions would bring even greater results. If you’re struggling with something and considering hypnotherapy, especially if you’re sceptical like I was, I truly recommend giving Sarah a go. My advice is simple: listen to her, trust the process and don’t fight it! As Sarah says herself: “it’s a two-way street - she can’t help you if you don’t want to help yourself”. Thank you, Sarah!
